Afterhours (Singapore)

Posted on

The band approached us to cover video for their first big gig but unfortunately it didn’t work out. I thought it was a shame so I dropped by anyway for their first set of three at Esplanade last Saturday evening and took a few shots from where I was seated (pity the bassist was too far away from me).

Foster The People

Posted on

Nearly 3 months later, I am still reveling in the fact that I had such a great time at Foster The People’s at Fort Canning Gate in January.

I had to queue pretty early on the day..started about 1PM or 2PM. Good thing we managed to get a spot on the front row. They only let us in at about 7PM I think and for the next 3hours or so I have to hang on to my camera because there is no way I am going to let it dangle anywhere with the crowd getting more restless and crowded.

Great band. Great performance. Great company. Time of my life. I had too much fun it’s almost illegal.

Congratulations..

..to The Chosen Glutton for getting ranked on hungrygowhere.com leaderboard!

Ignoring that it’s debuting at no higher than..#97!

Well it’s a start, and I am compelled to mention it here..because my photos here and here played a humongous role on getting him up there.

True story.

Anyway, good job to the man who splurged more on his food than feeding his dog.

That’s what she said.

Better With Ramen

Posted on

It is one of those things where you-have-never-tried-but-you-just-know-you-don’t-like-them kind of thing for me.

Until 3 months ago, it is virtually unheard of for me to have a ramen craving (I’m more for western food). Until my first ramen experience at Santouka. Now I just keep having random cravings every now and then — In the middle of a shower, mid-sentence of a book I’m reading, last note of a song on the radio.

You know I’m exaggerating, but yes I started having cravings. And I realise it is not really the dish as a whole that I crave. It is the soup.

Just talking about it now threatens another wave of craving.

Brunch With The Horses

Well, not literally.

Welcome to Rider’s Cafe. Set in some godforsaken part of Bukit Timah area, the non-airconditioned cafe is not recommended for people who: 1 dislikes a good walk 2 cannot live without air-condition

Fortunately for me, I like a good walk on some days and I like to be in the nature so the place being not air-conditioned is great for me. But then I must confess this time I had a ride in to this very lovely place ;)

Cloud Loving

Posted on

I decided to take a long, crazy sunny walk from MBS to City Hall station and glad I did. The walk felt like part of a journey to discover myself again. And look at those clouds. I love looking at clouds, especially these dramatic looking ones. Of course I couldn’t help but to whip out my iPhone and snapped some photos.

I Enjoyed The Food, Though I Don’t Eat Steamboat

Posted on

I am never a fan of steamboats. My palate never sees the soggy, tasteless, soupy tantalizing part of it all..so you can imagine my horror at the mention of reunion dinners during Chinese New Year, aka Steamboat Festival.

So after a crazy work day which I had to be on foot running around for 9 hours straight, you can imagine my utter delight when I got a dinner steamboat appointment.

But okay this really wasn’t that bad at all, I even enjoyed eating them. The fish is good, the meat is good. And, and, the best part of it for me is you get to mix your own sauce out of the many ingredients they have — fresh garlic, fried garlic, leek, peanuts, sesame oil, soy sauce, garlic chilli, cut chilli just to name a few!

And the steamboat isn’t like a huge one in the middle (though you can still opt for that) where everyone dumps food inside and overcooks them. No sir, we get our own pot of soup and you can cook your food anyway you want.

Oh I realise I have not mention the place after all the praises. It’s JPot, tucked away at some ulu corner at level one of Vivo City.

The One With My First Train Ride

Posted on

So I became part of the mad rush to get an experience of riding on a train last Thursday before this old station is moved to a new location.

Originally I’d imagined the train to be like those old fashioned ones complete with huge wheels which chug-a-chug loudly labouriously! Well what does a city girl knows?
